Why Believe in God?
Reason #31
What other religion or philosophy promises us immortality?
Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile, we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling.
- 2 Corinthians 5:1,2 (NIV)
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
- John 3:16 (NKJV)
If man gave us an almost impossible task to accomplish for the reward of eternal life, we would most assuredly try to perform it. But God gives us an easy task, simply to believe that he is the Creator and Savior of the universe. But we spurn his requirement because it just is not remarkable enough. Our bodies never think they will die, they fight it to the end, they literally pant for that last breath - it is only natural to want to go on living. God says that is only possible in his dimension; no longer possible in this one.
