Why Believe in God?
Reason #7
God is at the beginning, the end, even
the center of history.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
- Revelation 22:13 (KJV)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the
beginning. Through him all things were made; without
him nothing was made that has been made.
- John 1:1 - 3 (NIV)B.C., A.D.
For believers, he (Jesus) is the hinge of history.
- Newsweek March 29, 1999
Historians used to indicate time divisions in human history by using the letters B. C. to indicate "before Christ" and A. D. to mean "after Death" or "in the year of our Lord" (Anno Domini). Now it has become popular for the secular world to substitute BCE (before the common era) and ACE (after the common era). Note: they still have not managed to take Christ (God) out of the equation. BCE now simply means "before Christ's era" or "before Christian era" or "before Christ's entry". Likewise, ACE means "after Christs exit". Christ is still the center of history and our attempts to alter that fact have failed.
God built the universe. His Son God Christ permeates history. And history will wind to a close when "the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everthing in it will be laid bare."
